Your portfolio isn't the product.
Last updated August 27, 2026.
Loungely is a journal for your own trades — covered calls, cash-secured puts, dividends and the stock underneath them. This page explains what we collect to run that, why, and what we deliberately don't do with it.
What we collect
- Account info: your name (optional), email address, and a password — stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text.
- The transactions you enter or import: symbol, quantity, price, dates, option details, and an account label (e.g. "TFSA", "Margin"). We never store a brokerage account number.
- Your investor-profile answers from setup (persona, account types and similar), used to pick which dashboard tiles to show you.
- Basic technical data your browser sends to any web server — like IP address in server logs — kept only as long as needed for security and debugging.
Brokerage imports never leave your browser as a file
When you import a brokerage export, the file is read and mapped to rows entirely in your browser. The original file is never uploaded anywhere — only the individual rows you review and confirm are sent to our server, the same way a manually-typed transaction would be.
Market data
Prices, dividends and company fundamentals come from Yahoo Finance (via the
open-source yfinance library) and, for a same-day price on a
brand-new symbol, Finnhub. Those requests are ticker symbols and dates only —
they never carry your identity, your holdings as a set, or your account
information.
Cookies and local storage
Loungely's own pages don't set tracking cookies. Your browser's local storage holds your session token, a marketing-access token, and small display preferences (like light/dark/console theme) — all read only by Loungely's own pages, never sent to a third party.
Where ads are shown (see Advertising below), Google AdSense and its partners may set their own cookies. Those are the only third-party cookies Loungely uses.
Advertising
Loungely may show ads on parts of the site through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure those ads, and may use information about your visits to this and other sites to show ads that are more relevant to you. This ad code never receives your transactions, holdings, portfolio values, or investor-profile answers — we don't share any of that with Google or any advertiser.
You can review and turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ad settings, and read how Google uses data from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We don't share your trade history, holdings, or portfolio values with brokers, advertisers, or data brokers.
- We don't give advertising or analytics code your account data — where ads are shown, they run without any access to what's in your journal.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data as long as your account is active. You can delete your own data at any time from within the app — individual transactions, a whole account along with every transaction filed under it, or your entire Loungely account.
Deleting your account from Settings is immediate and permanent: it removes your login, every account you've set up, and every transaction in your journal, with no way for us to recover it afterward. If you'd rather we handle it, you can still contact us and we'll process the request without requiring you to explain why.
Security
Passwords are hashed, never stored or logged in plain text. Sessions use signed, expiring tokens. Traffic to Loungely is encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, but we don't collect more than we need in the first place, which limits what there is to protect.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how your data is used will be communicated by email.
